PROFILE

I´m currently a university undergraduate studying sports journalism, which is a great stepping-stone into the media industry. I have just over a years experience in journalistic practice, working in radio, print and with video. My degree has enabled me to converse well with the public, totally at ease. Alongside being able to work individually on media tasks, I am comfortable as part of a bigger media team, regularly being assigned different roles in a news day set-up.

As the university football captain, I know how to take on responsibility and fully commit to every task. I thoroughly enjoy working hard, with the aim of pleasing people and target audiences. Hence why I want a job within the media industry.

————————

8 GCSE´s A-B

I aimed to keep my subjects well spread out across my studies, enabling me to be knowledgeable in completely different sectors. Doing subjects like English and business still relate well to the media. They taught me how the media has a huge effect on the wider world and how important media outlets are to society. Which gives me a good cultural understanding outside the U.K.

KEY SKILLS

  • resourceful: I´ve always been able to think on my feet and come up with a way to resolve problems. Which gives me an edge over my peers, because I don’t panic in situations. I will take a calm approach to solving things, which seems to relax the atmosphere of a news studio.
  • Confidence: No matter the situation I´ve always had the confidence to be at ease with people, or using new equipment. It also means that I have no issues in travelling and emmersing myself into a different culture.
  • Leadership: In football, I´ve always been nominated for captaincy, showing I am a good example to others. As well as being entrusted to supervise work colleagues when I was left in charge of my previous work place. Which helps my aspiration to become an editor within the media industry.
