Students texting whilst driving. (Insert Date)

Me and Blaine came up with a very unique piece to camera for this package, which actually worked out very well. Me talking whilst driving gave the introduction character and was very contextual with the piece itself (being about driving whilst texting/ drinking). Overall I felt that it was a good package, we had plenty of cut scenes to use whilst the voice over played. We backed up our stories with facts from a survey which gave us enough credibility for it to make our package recent up to date news. However, we did take some constructive criticism from fellow students and our lecturer. Our interviews with students weren’t perfect as the background could have been more relevant to our story. Perhaps we could have had more cars driving past, with students inside as opposed to a fence background. Also we could’ve included how many people took the survey, as well as interviewing someone effected by texting/drunk drinking.

Students struggling to cook. (Insert Date)

This story was a quick back-up as the piece of news that we planned to do originally wasn’t viable, due to unforeseen weather conditions. We then had to find a piece to do within 15 hours. I decided to research some polls and questionnaires like we had done the week before. I felt that this was a good idea as we had positive feedback for using facts and secondary data research.
We therefore opted to do a story on students not learning to cook. We found a survey recorded in percentages on amount of students able to cook, giving our story a national problem/ social issue. However, we localised it for Jam News by using a Marjon student in our interview (the interview being the  that has problems with cooking and how it effects his diet.

Audio levels need to be better, cleaner cuts into audio

The music underneath could be shorter at some points

Include more voice over

shorter interviews maybe
