LearningSpace: How to embed a YouTube video

Embedding a YouTube Video

Sometimes it can be very useful to embed a video that you want students to watch rather than providing them with a link to follow. In LS, the label resource can be used to embed a YouTube video directly on to the LS module page. To do this, you need to:

  •        Turn editing on
  •        Go to the section that you want the video to appear in and click ‘add an activity or resource’
  •        Scroll down, select ‘label’ and click ‘add’
  •        Open a new ‘tab’ and search YouTube for the video that you want
  •        When you have found the video, click on the link to open it up and then click pause
  •        Click ‘Share’ – ‘Embed’ and then copy the embed code

  • Go back to your LS page and click on the ‘Edit HTML source’ icon (If the icon isn’t showing, click the Toolbar Toggle)

  • Paste the ‘embed code’ copied from your YouTube video into the HTML source editor – you will need to use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + V to paste the code

  • When you have pasted your embed code, click the ‘Update’ button, then scroll down and click ‘Save and return to course’
  • The video is now embedded and available for students to watch via your LS module page
