It is possible to embed a Twitter feed into your Edublogs site using the text widget and an embed code.
Embedding an external feed
You can embed an external feed by going to publish.twitter.com and entering the link to the twitter feed you want to embed.
You will then be given options of how you want the timeline to appear, either as a timeline or a button to tweet or follow the page. You will need to choose the Embedded Timeline option.
This will then show you a preview of the feed and give you the option to customise the feed. This includes changing the height and width and appearance. By changing the height you can restrict how many tweets are shown without scrolling, a height of 600 and a width of 300 is a good starting point.
Once you have made any changes click on Update and click ‘Copy Code’ to copy the embed code to your clipboard so that it can be pasted into the text widget.
Adding embed code to text widget
Once you have created and copied the embed code you will need to add a new text widget to your site. Depending on the theme and layout of your site the widget may appear in different places on the site.
Use the appearance menu to open the customiser to see a live preview of your blog, this will allow you to add the widget and see how it will appear on your site.
Use the customiser to navigate to the area of the site you want the widget to be added to and use the ‘Add widget’ button to open the widget options. You will need to add a new ‘Text’ widget to paste the embed code into.
Once you have selected the text widget you need to paste in the embed code and give the widget a title. This will then load the feed in the live preview and you can return to the Twitter site to make any changes to how the feed appears.
Once you are happy with your feed make sure to click Save & Publish in the customiser.
