Have you ever wondered how Panopto works, what happens and where the recordings go?
Currently, all timetabled lectures are recorded and once captured they are uploaded to Panopto and then made available via the replay block for your module in Learning Space. If you want to access the lecture at a later date all you need to do is login to Learning Space and scroll down to ‘My Courses’ – click on the relevant course and you should see the Replay block in the right-hand corner of the screen. This should display any completed recordings. If you then click on the recording link, it will automatically start playing the recorded lecture.
You’ll know when a lecture is being recorded because the red recording light will switch on and this is normally located close to the clever touch screen in the room.
But what happens if the red recording light is not on and it appears that the lecture isn’t being captured?
There is fortunately a simple solution if the lecture isn’t being captured, unless there is a system fault – in this case our computing services team will fix the issue once it has been reported by the lecturer.
Your lecturer will be able to access the system tray (located in the bottom right-hand side of the screen) on the laptop and click on the Panopto recorder to enable the recorder to capture the session. This should mean that the red light will come on to show that the session is being captured for the room. (It may take a few minutes before the light comes on)
