Get ready for your first day at Marjon

Get ready for your first day at MarjonWe’re excited to welcome our new students and have prepared this quick guide about the practicalities of the first few days, to help you make a smooth start!

The first thing you need to know is that registering is a two part process. The first step happens online and you’ll receive a welcome letter with instructions about how to enrol online. When you do this you’ll be able to see your timetable online, showing all your induction sessions and your course lectures and practical sessions too. You’ll complete your registration when you get here.

The second step in registering happens when you arrive on campus. Undergraduate students who’ll be living on campus will move in on Sunday 15 September. All the car parks are free on moving-in day so park up and head to the Information Hub, which is right next to Reception. Here you’ll register, pick up your library card, dining-in card and the keys to your accommodation.

If you’re an undergraduate who’ll be living off campus then you’ll be registering at the library on Monday 16 September.

Postgraduate students will also register at the library. Masters students are to register on Wednesday 4 September and PGCE students on Thursday 5 September.

It is only after you’ve registered on campus that your Student Finance money is released, so be aware that you won’t have access to that money until a few days after you register.

Settling in

On moving-in day go to the welcome meeting for resident students and to the social that follows it, organised by Marjon Student Union. Go to these events and you’ll get to know people in no time. Also, it’s a great idea to bring a treat to share with your new flat mates, like cake or cookies; something to break the ice!

There will be lots going on during welcome week from Sun 15 Sept. You’ll be given a copy of the What’s on Guide when you register so you can check out the social events.

To keep in touch with everything that is happening, download the Marjon mobile app before you get here, which you’ll find in the App Store or on Google Play. And if you’re on Facebook join the Marjon SU 2019-20 group. If you’ve got more questions give the uni a call or ask in the Marjon Applicants group on Facebook. We’ll see you very soon and rest assured, a warm and friendly welcome awaits you here at Marjon!

The Student Support team is here to help all students by offering academic advice, student funding advice, disability support and counselling to support you at challenging times. We can also support you in accessing childcare and health services. If you’d like to get in touch please look out for our drop-in sessions in the Information Hub, call us on 01752 636891 or email us on info@marjon.ac.uk.

We’ll see you soon and in the meantime, check out the welcome guide to get you ready for the year ahead!
