10 Useful Resources

  • MARGen

This site is incredibly helpful to be able to get the correct referencing style for the Plymouth Marjon University. It will ensure that all references are correctly written for within our assignments. It will give you the full reference to include in your reference list and the shortened version to include within your text.

  • Discovery

This site is really helpful when it comes to finding journals for essays. It gives you access to academic journals that you would not normally find on google. It also gives you the option of choosing whether you would like journals, books or magazines.

  • eLearning & TEL Help

This site is one of the most helpful sites that is available to students. It gives you guidance and advice on how you do almost anything related to university life. It can show you how to use Turnitin to submit assignments to how to get lecture recordings back from Panopto.

  •  Physiopedia

I have chosen to include this website in with my study skills page because I feel like this site helps with the understanding of how the body works especially when it comes to doing joint assessments. This is because it guides you through what you need to do and gives you a step by step guide on how to perform the special tests.

  • Microsoft Office

If you can use any of these tips from this page then let it be this one! This is one of the most important and helpful tips that I have come across this year. Every single student is eligible to have Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote as part of their Office 365 Education bundle…for FREE! It will be the most used programme that you will have on your computer so you will always be able to do your coursework.

  • Marjon Library

This is a really useful tool when it comes to writing up assignments or doing further reading within your degree. This is because you are able to type in a key word related to your subject and it will show you all of the book that are available in the Marjon library. It will also tell you which books are available online and how many copies of each book are currently on the shelves.

  • Kahoot

This website is a good tool when it comes to revising for exams or just for general revision. This is because you can make up your own quizzes that are specialised to your subject. You can test your knowledge in a fun and interesting way other than using the traditional pen and paper!

  • Mendeley

This website is another site that will help with referencing types. This site has different attributes as opposed to the other site mentioned on this page as it also comes with settings that allows your references to be created straight in to a bibliography. Mendeley also has a plug-in setting with Microsoft Word to help transfer bibliographies straight into your assignment.

  • Marjon Futures

The Marjon Futures website is there to help with students with various aspects over their 3 years at university and even after they have graduated. For the undergraduates in particular, there are a set of quizzes that help you find out what kind of student you are and how you find it easier to study. These are good for being able to understand how you prefer to do study before getting inundated with coursework!

  • Google Scholar

This site is good for when you need to find books and journals for reading further into a subject related to your degree. The website is also good as it shows you where to find and buy a book online if you have found one that you thought was really useful, for example, if you found a text book that was good for learning your anatomy it would show you where to buy and how much it is and the ISBN number if you wanted to look around for a better deal.
