Job Title:Broadcast Journalist (Weather Presenter), BBC Plymouth Weather Hub

Role Description: Plymouth is one of the BBC’s main weather hubs serving the three regions of the South and South West of England, covering radio stations from the Channel Islands and the Isles of Scilly to Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and the south coast. We provide live forecasts for 9 radio stations and 3 TV stations.

Our regional and local weather service is an essential part of our output and a key driver in attracting audiences to the BBC.

We are looking for people who can deliver this service in an engaging and authoritative way and who can demonstrate the ability to develop detailed local and meteorological knowledge.

Main Responsibilities
You’ll be expected to deliver forecasts on radio and television, and to contribute text for use on all platforms. Technical aptitude is required to make use of our graphics weather system and other computer forecasting systems.

You’ll be expected to be able to operate basic radio equipment and upload some of our video forecasts to online platforms. There are a mixture of early, late and weekend shifts and you will be needed to cover a range of those shifts during the week as required.

Our early shift provides live forecasts for up to 10 radio bulletins per hour – so you must be able to stay calm under pressure, have great organisational skills and be a motivated self-starter.

You would be expected to work a minimum of 20 hours each week, based mainly on a 10 hour working day.

The Ideal Candidate
You’ll have excellent broadcasting skills and an ability to develop weather related stories and ideas for our output across the region. You’ll be able to work co-operatively as part of a team and will have an understanding of the BBC’s Editorial guidelines.

You’ll need excellent communication skills in audio, video and text, and be able to summarise a weather story in a clear and engaging way.

You should have a proven interest in the weather, backed up with examples. You will need a full understanding of the needs of the BBC’s audiences on all platforms.

It is desirable that you have some previous meteorological training and weather presenting experience to help you step seamlessly into the role. However some training will be provided for the right candidate.

Job Title:Registry Co-ordinator (Admissions)

Role Description: We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic person to join the Admissions Team to support the Registry & Compliance Manager.

The successful candidate must have substantial Admissions administrative experience in Higher Education with excellent communication skills and an ability to work flexibly, both independently and as a part of a team. Applicants will have advanced IT and organisational skills and the ability to work to a high degree of accuracy using computerised and manual office systems.
