What Happened? What did the experience mean? What are the next steps?

Going into placement today I knew that we had 3 patients coming in, two of which I already knew what was wrong with them. I arrived early to the session and had a conversation with a couple of the patients about their injuries, kind of like a short subjective assessment. Once my supervisor had arrived, I jumped straight into an objective assessment with my first patient. After 30-45 minutes of treatment with the first patient, I stepped a side and let Hannah begin treating the other two patients. I came up with some strengthening exercises for my patient to go away and use, in hope that in a couple weeks his rear deltoid and subscapularis strength would have increased.

I can feel my confidence increasing as the weeks go by and looking back to the start of my placement there this time last year, I am definitely getting a lot more respect from my patients. It is a big confidence boost for me knowing that my patients have trust in me and my treatment.

Unfortunately, without a promise of rugby to begin anytime soon, not many players are wanting to come to the Wednesday night physio sessions. I am trying to educate my patients by saying that they do not need to have an injury to come to the sessions and that a general observation and treatment can be effective even when they might not think there is anything wrong with them.
