Plymouth 10k,
In this event the clients ranged from ages 18 to 50 years of age. Because of the time restraints the clients were not assessed but given sports massages on the clients demands. The most common request present seemed to be sports massages to the quadriceps and the gastrocnemius.
When giving the client sports massages, effleurage was initially used to increase the blood flow and to warm up the muscles. This was followed by petrissage techniques such as wringing, kneading, picking up and open C’s. On some clients MET’s were used.
This was the first time treating the general public and I believe that I showed high professionalism, confidence and a good execution of the techniques that I have learnt. Things to improve on is learning the pathology of injury, but this will be taught at a later stage of the course.
