Premier League Football – Wednesday Predictions

Six games in the Premier League tonight. Here are some predictions. If I’m correct then you all owe me a pint. Cheers in advance.

Burnley (19th) vs Liverpool (2nd)

Second from bottom play host to second from top. This has to be a Liverpool walkover. Burnley are cool, and everyone kind of likes them because Sean Dyche seems a salt of the earth bloke. But they are struggling. The other manager also gets a lot of love, even from the FA it seems after an embarrassingly low £8,000 fine for his pitch invasion. Shambles. Mourinho would’ve been castrated for less, but Klopp’s team do kick balls nicer. Fair play.

What Paddy Power thinks: (Burnley 11/1) (Draw 9/2) (Liverpool 1/4)

What Lawro thinks: 0-2

What I think: 0-4

Everton (7th) vs Newcastle (14th)

Marco Silva. A young Portugeezer with swagger, class and talent. Jose or AVB? Time will tell. He’s already managed more Premier League teams than Wenger and Ferguson combined (opta) and this Everton team looks great. After that freak goal they conceded against Liverpool, this is a chance to see if they are just a great looking team or a team with passion, fight and other Danny Dyerisms. Newcastle are also involved, and hopefully Rafa will get booed.

What Paddy Power thinks: (Everton 1/2) (Draw 3/1) (Newcastle 6/1)

What Lawro thinks: 2-0

What I think: 3-0

Fulham (20th) vs Leicester (9th)

Claudio Ranieri will face his old team for the first time since his brutal sacking nine months ago. The Tinkerman has not long been at bottom side Fulham. Perhaps best known so far this season for using three keepers already. Fitting. Leicester are only two points behind 6th place Bournemouth and could go top of this mini-league if they win and both Everton and Man Utd fail to. What a game.

What Paddy Power thinks: (Fulham 9/5) (Draw 12/5) (Leicester 6/4)

What Lawro thinks: 1-1

What I think: 1-2

Wolves (13th) vs Chelsea (3rd)

Chelsea (boooooooo) visit Wolves, who are without the player everyone claims to have spotted years ago on Football Manager, Ruben Neves. That won’t help their poor form. The Blues, for some reason playing N’Golo Kante as a false 9 or whatever, will have a comfortable evening against the Tangy Cheese Doritos. If Barkley and RLC start, I’ll pay attention. Otherwise, not for me, Clive.

What Paddy Power thinks: (Wolves 9/2) (Draw 11/4) (Chelsea 4/6)

What Lawro thinks: 1-2

What I think: 0-3

Man Utd (8th) vs Arsenal (4th)

Arsenal come in off the back of a fantastic win over Spurs. What a game that was. Man Utd come into this with terrible players, and David de Gea. However, it’s not all bad news for Utd fans, Phil Jones is apparently injured. I have no idea what this game will bring. Could be another 8-2. Could be a Paul Pogba silly penalty miss, with Rob Holding getting in his face. Whatever happens, it has to be a decent game, right?

What Paddy Power thinks: (Man Utd 13/10) (Draw 5/2) (Arsenal 2/1)

What Lawro thinks: 2-1

What I think: 1-2

Tottenham (5th) vs Southampton (18th)

Kelvin Davis will take interim charge of Southampton until that Leipzig guy comes in. That appointment has been all over the news but it still hasn’t happened? He clearly didn’t fancy Spurs away. That’s fair enough. Before the north London derby Spurs were on a good run. They could find themselves in the top four tonight, if things elsewhere go their way. Similarly, but way down the table, a draw could take Saints out of the drop zone.

What Paddy Power thinks: (Spurs 1/3) (Draw 4/1) (Saints 9/1)

What Lawro thinks: 3-0

What I think: 2-0
