Andreas Schleicher, the director of education and skills at the OECD, has said that ”talent is being wasted.” A theory built upon the idea that there is ingrained stereotyping about gender, race and social background.

Schleicher is aiding the Education and Employers charity in an attempt to give children an understanding of the jobs that are available.

Scheicher says that children begin making assumptions of what they want to be when they leave school while they are still in primary school.

Allegedly there are ”Minimal changes” in a career based attitude from children aged from seven to 17, as the report produced jointly by the OECD and Education and Employers claims.

the report mentions how, due to social mobility, young people only consider the jobs that are familiar to them through friends and family
