Greens Rolling Forward

Ahead of Argyle’s trip to the Lamex Stadium to face Stevenage today, defender Niall Canavan has stressed the importance of taking every game as it comes and acknowledged that every team in Sky Bet League Two pose a threat on their day.

“All games in this league are tough and teams are resilient more often than not,” he said. “We’ve seen, more recently, teams are trying to find ways of stopping us from playing and I don’t think Saturday will be any different.

“They [Stevenage] will certainly have a game plan, it will be up to us to figure it out and work out the ways around it, how we can beat it. We go there confident that we’ll be able to do that. Every game in this league is hard work, everyone is organised and resilient and they make it a real scrap.

“Again, that’s a thing that we have to work out, see what they do, piece it and work out the puzzle together as quickly as we can. Hopefully, that gets us in front and ultimately leads us to the three points.”

Having enjoyed a fair bit of success on the road in recent weeks, with four wins in the last five, Niall realises the importance of building on that form and seizing the opportunity to advance up the League Two table.

“The long journeys are easier when you come back with three points in the bag,” he said. “I don’t think our away record on its own is something we would look at, we look at everything as a long running thing.

“The more games we can win back-to-back, the better chance it gives us. We’ve said to ourselves as a group that, if we can get a run going, we can get this team really rolling forward. We back ourselves to be right up there.”
