Dan Gosling stated that it would be ‘another huge failure’ if AFC Bournemouth do not achieve promotion this season.

Bournemouth football club are starting life in the Championship this season after being relegated from the Premiership back in July. The team are looking to bounce back at the first time of asking by getting promotion this season, something which Gosling said was mentioned as a priority in one of their meetings this summer.

“The goal is promotion. We have sat and discussed this probably early on in the start of the season in one of our first meetings, the manager come in and said promotion.”

Having new manager Jason Tindall identifying that as their main aim early on clearly emphasised to the boys what they have to live up to this season. In addition, midfielder Gosling also explained the reason as to why he thinks they can succeed this season and what it would be if they fail to reach their target.

“We believe that we have the squad and the players to do that, so ultimately promotion is our main aim and if we don’t it is another huge failure on our behalf.”

With the Brixham born player talking about what the aim is as a team this season, he also revealed what personal targets he hopes to achieve.

“Mine is always to play as many games as possible because at the moment there is huge competition in the midfield places, but that has been the case ever since I signed and joined the club, so it is nothing new.”

“But I also like scoring goals and starting games, so hopefully if I can get 5 to 8 goals this year I will be really pleased with that, although it could be difficult, it is a small goal of mine.”

The box to box midfielder scored three goals in the Premier League last season which makes his objective of scoring five to eight goals this season even more realistic, especially after scoring two goals in a Man of the Match performance against Coventry last Friday, which brings his tally to two goals in four games already this season.
