CyberPunk 2077 Delayed Yet Again

The highly anticipated video game  CyberPunk 2077 has been delayed yet again due to further testing on next-gen consoles

CyberPunk 2077 by CD Projekt Red has been delayed by a further 21 days after it was announced by leading developers Adam Badowski and Marcin iwiński that they needed more time to test “up to 9 different versions of the game”. In their statement they said:

“Today we’ve decided to move the release date of CyberPunk 2077 by 21 days. The new release date is December 10th.”

“The biggest challenge for us right now is shipping the game on current gen, next-gen and PC at the same time.”

This was the third time that the game had been pushed back, the first time being in April, just a few weeks before the game was supposed to launch but was delayed due to performance issues. Then it  was  pushed back by a further 4 months to September, which was once again pushed by another 2 months to November and now once again it has been pushed back to December.

Mr Badowski and Mr Iwiński understood the upset this would cause to fans after previously saying in early September they did not expect the game to be delayed further. They issued an apology with their statement saying “Most likely there are many emotions and questions in your heads. So, first and foremost, please accept our humble apologies.”

CyberPunk 2077 had been granted the certification of “gold” earlier this month, which is only given to a game that is working, has all the content and can be completed. Many fans assumed this would mean no further delays to one of the biggest releases of 2020.

CD Projekt Red has stated there will also be an additional day 0 patch saying that for the patch “Many improvements are being made”. The company also stated that it “under-calculated” when considering a new release date.

Mr Badowski and Mr Iwiński ended their post with a reassurance for fans stating “We feel we have an amazing game on our hands and are willing to make every decision, even the hardest ones, if it ultimately leads to you getting a video game that you’ll fall in love with.”
