Word of the day…..

Snafu

Definition:

1 a badly confused or ridiculously muddled situation

2 in disorder; out of control; chaotic

Today’s word snafu is one I’d never heard of until recently. When used in context, its meaning is fairly obvious, but just to be totally clear I thought I’d look it up to make sure.

On further investigation I found that this wasn’t just a word but it was originally an acronym. Apparently, it’s a well known example of a military slang acronym which is used sarcastically and literally means: situation normal – all fucked up. The term was first used by the American military in WW11.

It seems to me that there might be quite a number of snafus going on just lately. Not pointing any fingers…….
