Wolves give Manchester United and Ralf Ragnick a reality check, top 4 now a struggle for United?

After a shock 1-0 loss to Wolves, Manchester United fans are left questioning the performance of the team and where the problem lies, is it the managers fault or the players?

The results since Ralf Rangnick became the manager of Manchester United have been good with the only loss out of his first five games coming in the recent defeat to Wolves. This good run Rangnick’s had can be misleading though as the performances have not been great only excluding the first half of his first game against Crystal Palace where the team looked determined and well-drilled. The lack of good performances in the other games has led to the initial excitement of Ralf’s appointment and good run to diminish, the disappointing football has been much similar in lack luster to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s.

A draw against Newcastle and a loss against Wolves means that top 4 in the premier league looks doubtful for Manchester United and with that it means no Champions League next season is also likely for the club. The main fear around not qualifying for the Champions League is that the big players like Ronaldo and Pogba may not stay at a club , this could lead to the situation going from bad to worse, it could mean a downward spiral in standard and dropping even further off rivals like Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea who most believe are miles ahead of United now, let alone if they drop out of the top 4.

When questioned on whether he knew the extent of the challenge the Manchester United job brought after the Wolves game Ralph Rangnick stated that he knew the challenge and that’s why the club appointed him. Clearly still confident in his abilities it will be interesting to see if Ralf can recover United’s poor season.
