Albion eye promotion push ahead of Cinderford clash

Plymouth Albion play host to a huge league game against Cinderford RFC this weekend as they look to push up the table in the National League One. After a disappointing start to the new year with a 45-35 loss away to Sale, the Albion will be looking to pick up their first win of 2023 when Cinderford travel to Brickfields this Saturday. Albion introduced new manager Ryan Lamb after having parted ways with Damian Welch in late December.

Commercial Director, Chris Bentley, said that the club was in the midst of a revolution, which all boiled down to this weekend for the massive showdown between Albion and Cinderford. He went on to say that the team knew exactly what the visitors were going to bring to the game, and that they were going to be “hard and gnarly, and will be rubbing their hands at the prospect of the playing conditions after lots of recent rain”.

Bentley also hinted at Albion’s hopes for revenge after narrowly losing to Cinderford away from home earlier in the season. He said “it’s sort of like the immoveable object and the irresistible force, they love it in the mud and the rain, we’ve only lost once at home this year and built something of a fortress at Brickfields”. When asked about the club’s plans for the new year, Bentley said: “if we’re serious about pushing up the table we need to win this weekend, and Cinderford are a beatable team, which gives the ingredients of a proper battle Royale this weekend”.

Albion have introduced reduced tickets for both home games in January. All tickets will now be £10 for all stands, and season ticket holders will be able to get an extra ticket for free, meaning they can get in with a friend for the price of one person. The club hope this will attract more fans in order to give the players the push they need in order to climb up the table in the new year.
