Fan favourite “Red Hot” Andy Not is the new Reach Academy Champion after he defeated Cameron Merchant in a “brutal” chairs match in front of a packed out Marjon quad theatre on Sunday.
The match quickly got heated as Cam Merchant threw Andy over the ropes and followed up with a dropkick to the face leaving both ringside, with Cam taunting the fans whilst Andy was on the floor.
Soon after, the fight spilled out into the crowd where Cam unfortunately found himself in amongst the red hot section, where he unsurprisingly took a beating, as they cheered Andy on.
Notably cam caught the match official, Brandon Watson, with a chair leaving him unable to continue officiating the match, with another referee coming out to finish the match.
The match came to a close when Red Hot suplexed Cam onto a chair leading to him claiming the victory via pinfall. Shortly after Andy became victorious at Journey for Gold, the red hot section joined him in the ring to celebrate him becoming the new Reach Academy Champion.
After the match Andy spoke to the media stating he had “a world of emotions” going on right now after he became the 8th Reach Academy Champion. He spoke about his “happiness” that he has finally got the Reach Academy title around his waist, and also said about how his body was “aching” and in pain after the “brutal” chairs match.
Andy will have his first defence of the Reach Academy championship at Reach’s next event, “Revenge” on June 1st at the New Continental Hotel In Plymouth, where his opponent will be “The Bruiser” Samuel Jacobs who is fresh off a win at Journey For Gold and will be looking to win the title at Revenge. You can buy tickets to see Andy Not defend his championship against Samuel Jacobs at REACHwrestling.com with standard tickets starting at £10.
