Using google docs you and another user can simultaneously edit a document from anywhere where you have access to the internet. This is simply done by both users opening the document at the same time.
You can use the normal document editing tools along with adding comments and questions to the paper, which the other user can see and respond to.
There are 3 editing modes available;
- Editing – allows you to freely make changes to the document
- Suggestion – allows you to make changes to the document which must be approved by yourself or the other user.
- Viewing – only allows you to view and print the document
When you share a document you can specify which of these roles they will have, although if you give them full access to the document they will have the option to switch between roles. Your role can be changed using the dropdown in the top right hand corner.
Suggested edits will appear to the right of the document and can then be approved by another user.
You can also add comments which will appear next to the text and other users can reply to resolve and remove them
As another users types into the document you will be able to see their changes live.
Any changes made to a document are automatically saved as you go along so you can close it at anytime.
