Date Location Total Amount of Hours Overview of Session
18/03/2021 MARJON Sports Therapy Clinic 6 For the first 2 hours I used this time to prepare my dissertation testing for later.

The next hour we went through as a group different gym exercises for a MCL Sprain Grade 2.

The rest of clinic I explored the Spine  as requested from my supervisor and helped observe a remote consultation for a third year on a wirst injury.

Reflective Summary Areas for Further Improvement and Action Plan
For the 2 hours of clinic I prepared my dissertation testing by looking at  normative data and previous studies on K-Tape. This was good as it prepared me for my testing as well as gaining some knowledge of studies on K-Tape such as Ozmen et al, 2016 which showed improvements in proprioception.

The next hour we came as a clinic group and did some gym work such as looking at exercises for MCL Sprain. Some of the exercises included step ups and countermovement jumps. I could improve as I struggled to set up the hamstring curl machine in the gym due to my inexperience with the equipment.

After lunch I did some research exploring the spine due to my lack of confidence surrounding it. I did this by looking at different spinal pathologies such as facet joint anatomy as this was something I struggled with. Also, for my research I explored different signs and symptoms of facet joint pain such as intermittent pain and some of causes of Facet Join Pain can include mechanical Injury and Inflammation of the Facet Joint (Manchacanti et al, 2016).

For the final hour I observed a third year student remote consultation for a wrist injury client. From this call I learn how to assess the hand properly and learned some wrist exercises such as Plank Sways and some Wrist Rotations to help with pain and ROM.

·        Practice using the Hamstring Curl Machine as this could  be useful in preparation for our STYHO1 exam.

·        Do more research on MCL sprains as I have limited knowledge on assessment as I haven’t had an MCL patient this year.

Return to Reflections at a Later Date
  ·        Did some more research on MCL sprains and found out different exercises to do at different stages of rehabilitation.

·        Practised setting up a Hamstring Curl Machine and am now confident of setting it up for a client.
