Give

The following advice is adapted from that available on the MIND website.

Participation in social and community life has attracted a lot of attention in the field of wellbeing research.

Individuals who report a greater interest in helping others are more likely to rate themselves as happy.

Research into actions for promoting happiness has shown that committing an act of kindness once a week over a six-week period is associated with an increase in wellbeing.

As a student, there are so many opportunities to ‘Give’ and any volunteering you do will also give you experience and additional skills.  Find out more about volunteering with Marjon here:- https://www.marjon.ac.uk/student-life/marjon-futures/volunteering/ or see what the Students Union are doing that you could get involved with:- https://www.marjonsu.com/.

Remember to check our calendar for events too to see if there is something you’d like to get involved in.  A new Marjon tradition we began last year was to collect small gifts before Christmas that will be shared amongst our care experienced students who often spend Christmas on campus.  If you would like to join this giving activity to let students know we are thinking of them when we are away from the Marjon family, we’d love you to join in.  Details are on the calendar for 1st December or you can contact Laura Butler at lbutler@marjon.ac.uk
