M4TM European Staff Training Week. Plymouth Marjon University. October 29th-November 2nd 2018

After many months of planning, a very successful staff training week was held for maths teachers across the partner countries. Many varied topics, of interest and relevance, were covered and the passion and enthusiasm for maths was clear for everyone to see.

A new network of teachers was successfully established and project aims and objectives were clarified.

Aiming to improve children’s confidence in maths is an ongoing project aim and it was wonderful to be fortunate enough to see, confident, enthusiastic and clearly very capable children helping teachers understand more about bar modelling.

Check out the Twitter feed and resources/presentations available from the week.

Fourth Transnational Project Meeting Cyprus October 3rd-7th 2018

Milestone meeting for M4TM, as we entered the second full year of this fantastic project. The meeting provided an opportunity to reflect on progress that had been made during the course of the first year whilst recognising that there is still much to do. Final planning was completed for the forthcoming C1 Staff Training event and forthcoming priorities identified; including roll out of the final home school packs ,teacher, pupil and parent surveys.

Third M4TM Transnational Meeting Alytus Lithuania 2nd -6th June 2018

After what seemed like a whirlwind year, the M4TM project partners met to receive warm Lithuanian hospitality and a refocus on the project aims and objectives. Another opportunity was provided to observe mathematics teaching and learning in a different ,from normal, context and to build further on the developing friendships and networks that will drive the project forward over the next couple of years.

Barely three months after the first inaugural M4TM project meeting held in Tavistock, Devon, the partners met to build further on the initial meeting, seeking to ensure that we were all clear on the intellectual outputs, objectives and aims of the projects. As we move to a world of chip and pin, and contactless purchases, it was also good to see Spanish children enjoying their maths and using real life items to help build understanding of money and the process of buying and selling. Fantastic hospitality shown from our Spanish hosts. So much to do however confidence and clarity is building.
