Welcome to Edublogs!

Edublogs, is a blog creation cloud-based tool that uses the WordPress platform.

Blogs are great for creating web content that you can add media-rich content to.  They can be used to showcase your skills, as a diary or even to create fully functional websites.

Posts

The nature of a blog in general is that content is collaborative, so that other people can comment on your posts and you can develop an engaging site that people will find interesting to visit.  Posts, unlike pages are not usually available at the top of a website, or navigation.  They usually sit on the right-hand side of the page or depending on the template used in another location.  Posts can be set to the top of the navigation panel via the ‘Menu’ option within the ‘Appearance’ area.

Pages

In general static pages are for things like ‘About me’ or ‘Contact’.  These pages probably won’t change a lot over time.

Template

You can control how your blog appears and how it functions, for example this blog has been setup using the ‘Tracks‘ template, which is a visually appealing template.

There are literally hundreds of templates to choose from and if you want to try some out, just go to ‘Appearance’ > ‘Themes’ and to take a look select the ‘Live Preview’ option.  If you would like a blog site that is more of a showcase of your skills or a diary, then why not try something like the ‘Bushwick‘ template for a visual presence. Take a look at the below example site that uses the Bushwick template for ideas.

If you have been assigned the task of using Edublogs as part of your assignment or module, then this example blog site will help to provide you with some useful tips and present you with something that looks and operates effectively.  If you must use one of the set Marjon templates for your module, then please visit the below example site: (It is worth pointing out that if you jump ahead in your session and then change the set Marjon template, you won’t be able to go back and if your course requires you to use one of the Marjon templates, you’ll need to create a whole new site.)
