Did you know we have some woodland right on top of us? Marjon has a woodland, complete with a pond and towering evergreens. Whether you’re a budding photographer, avid birdwatcher, or just enjoy a calm and quiet spot, you’ve got the ideal spot just minutes away!

Loop of Plymouth Airport

Plymouth Airport Loop

You can easily do a loop of the airport, and you won’t be bored. Since the airport closed in 2011, nature has taken back the land. You can hear and spot all manner of birds, see deer grazing and leaping through the grass, and take in the quiet in this green urban space.

The Viaduct is nestled in Plymbridge Woods and is only a 50-minute walk from campus. In warmer weather, it’s great for paddling and cooling off, and it’s a lovely place to spend time around nature.

Bircham Valley Nature Reserve

The Bircham Valley Nature Reserve is tucked away behind the grey of Derriford Hospital and the bustling industrial estate. With views across Forder Valley and the lower parts of the city, its an idyllic location to unwind.

Route to Goodwin Park

Goodwin Park

Hidden in the leafy valley between Southway and Derriford you’ll find Goodwin Park. If you follow it’s paths, you’ll come across a miniature railway! The woodland is home to a number of small and large creatures, why not see how many you can spot?
