Week 7-27/1/2020 and 28/1/2020

On the 27th it was the start of refreshers and we planned to host rounders on the 3G however, the weather let us down and we had to go into the gymnasium to do a mix of different old school PE games. That didn’t really work out as no one turned up. I was really gutted and put me down a bit. I’m so far losing a battle when it comes to putting on fun events for students to take part in. Students ask for these events and activities but never show up. If the other two don’t go well then I will be put off from hosting these events in the future.

On the 28th I was back in the office trying to sort out more games for the 5ths team. I am really enjoying communicating with other institutions and just networking around. This is getting me thinking about maybe running for football club captain next year. Sorting out these games isn’t fun but it shows that i am good at it. I was also emailing Absolute bubble football about what time they will be coming on campus and letting them known about university policy on parking.

Week 6- 22/1/2020

I was in the Office to put together the final plans for refreshers. We have agreed that we will put on 3 sporting activities in the week. On Monday the 27th will we put on rounders on the 3G however, if the weather is not good then we will go to the gymnasium and do different activities in there. On Friday 31st we will host bubble football. This will be run by the company absolute bubble football. We are hoping to get a good turn out for this as we have put money into running this event. We are also doing an charity event on the day called Row Britannia. We will be getting students donate £1 and to row a mile. Our final activity is dodge ball on 2nd February. Hoping for a good turn out for all activities.

This week has given me a opportunity run my own events with the help of  the Sports Fed and the SU.

Week 5- 15/1/2020 and 17/1/2020

It was a busy day. Spend the first hour in the office getting the dates sorted for refreshers. Afterwards i was in 2 meetings with the captains, about varsity and the money side of it all. In the 2nd meeting it was about campus development and how student want the campus to develop and improve. I spoke a lot about improving the sports facilities; adding another 3G where the grass pitches are.

In the same week I was in the office on Friday the 17th, me and sports officer Luis Costa were tasked with making a poster for refreshers. This is to make everyone aware of what we are putting on for the students. Making sure that we have the right dates, times and locations.

Every day I am getting more and more comfortable and confident in the work I am doing for the Sports Federation.

Week 4- 8/1/2020

It was good to get back from Christmas break and get back to working in the office. I was task with a few objectives for the new year which i got to work straight away with getting football fixtures for our men’s 5th team. The 5th team have only had one game this season and that wasn’t fair on our lads. I have been able to get us a match against Falmouth university on Sunday the 19th. Which is just a first of  a few games we have lined. We’ve got Exeter Uni, Exeter college and Plymouth College all happy to go ahead with a match. With a possible 2nd game with all teams. I was really happy to do this for the football club and I’m glad that teams have accepted our offer. It just shows that I can do the job that could be apart of my future work and that I am good at getting opportunities of the ground. Sticking with football I looked on the English Universities Sport website and they have football trials coming up for the England Universities national team. i have been allowed to create a list of the best male footballers Marjon has and will send them to the trials. I will be helped by Sports Officer Luis Costa and Football Club Captain Matt Callow.

With Refreshers only 3 weeks away we are going to run 3 sporting events for people to do in the day during refreshers. We have planned rounders, bubble football and dodge ball. This is a great chance for people who play sport and also those who don’t to come along and have fun for a few hours. We have faced some problems as the sports hall is full on most days. Rounders might be done on the 3G but the problem is that the weather could be really bad on that day which means no one will turn up. Dodge ball looks like it will be done on a Sunday which might not be the best thing as sporting events put on a Sunday normally don’t do well. We need to talk to all the captains about this and make sure they come along with a lot of there team.
