Week 14-13/3/2020

This was the end of the planning leading up to Varsity. With the first lot of matches taking place on Monday 15h. So a little bit of my day was being apart of talks about what we are going to be doing on both the Monday and Wednesday. I am excited to have a real part of varsity this year and I hope that we can have a very successful week of sport.

It was also sport relief, we had a good turn out of students wearing sports kit. This was mainly the seniors. All year it has been hard all year to get 1st years involved in activities around campus. I was very disappointed in the turn out for blind football. I was expecting more of a turn out as it was all about footballing ability. This has been happening all year. So it is getting pretty hard to keep putting activities on. Another round of intramural football happened on the same day. The league is really taking shape and I look forward to seeing who will make the top 4.

Week 13- 6/3/2020

On this day I was planning ahead for sport relief on Friday 13th. Looking to see what Marjon could do. I can up with the plan of making it a non-school uniform day. Getting both students and staff to wear sports kit and to donate 50p to sport relief. My second idea aswell was to put on a game of blind football, this is a very inclusive sport. This way I believe more people would turn up as ability on the pitch won’t matter. Again people will donate 50p to play.

Apart from sport relief I was also looking to moving forward with the American football team. Speaking to Kathryn she will be bring it up in the next executive meeting, so we can play for the grant. I was also sorting out how we are going to run the female intramural football tournament. The plan is to have it run over one day as there won’t be as many teams. This will start after Varsity.

Week 12-2/3/2020

I went to a safeguarding conference at Home Park. There were a number of guest speakers talking on topics with different forms of terrorism and children safeguarding in sport.  The talk that was good for us at Marjon was about hate crimes and how to report them. This is important for us because it is a big talking point for sport with racism. Now we can take a big stand of hate crimes during sports games and how we can report them.

Week 11-28/2/2020

I was doing work from home on this day as the office was closed but I still needed to get on with some work. One of which was a phone call with the CEO of Sports Bucks. This was about getting funding for an American football team at Marjon. We will be trying to a grant of up £10,000. It was a good conversation and it looks like we can move forward and created a team. I have since spoken to the sports federation about setting a team and will be bring up in a meeting to see if we can put in the money for the team.

I was also giving a list of events to do. Sport Relief and Intramural.

Week 10- 21/2/2020

On this day I was trying to sort out 5ths football games. Getting into contact with teams and what facilitates are available for us. On the 26th we are having a game with Plymouth College. However, the game is on grass so I’m sure if the grass will be good enough. I am finding it easier to talk to members of staff then other students. It is harder to organised a match or an event with other students. I was also apart of a meeting with the catering company about varsity and sports awards. This was to make sure the new manger is aware of what is going to happen on those days and what we are going to put on.
