Additional Qualifications Needed

In addition to my university studies it’s important to gain further experience and knowledge around the field of sports science. One key way I can do so is by gaining additional qualifications; here are a few additional qualifications that I hope to gain before going into full time employment.

  • Level 3 Fitness Instructing Course

Following on from my Level 2, this qualification will greater my understanding of working with a range of different clients in a professional and effecting manner. The course will assist me in assessing clients individual needs and goals, creating session plans with interventions and the underlining knowledge and science behind the sessions.

  • Level 2 Football Coaching

As my main sport and coaching knowledge lies within this sport I believe it would be beneficial if I were to gain a higher level qualification following on from the Level 1. This course will help me develop the skill of organising and carrying out sessions with a group, as well as be able to plan and instruct different drills around the sport.

  • PGCE Primary or Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship

After my BSc Sports and Exercise Science Degree I want to apply to do either a PGCE Primary degree or a Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship within a primary school. This is because I have had experience working with primary aged students and really enjoy the planning and in the classroom teaching time that I have done.
