Location: Plymouth
Hours: Part Time
Salary: £25-£30K Pro Rata
Role Description: Le Navet Bete and Barbican Theatre seek an experienced theatre designer for their 2017/18 production of A Christmas Carol (at The Plymouth Athenaeum) We are particularly interested in designers skilled at delivering across set / props and costume. We will also consider applications from those who tend to specialise in just one of these areas.
Job Summary
Barbican Theatre and Le Navet Bete have developed a co-production relationship over the last 10 years.
Their Christmas productions in Plymouth have become a very successful, critically acclaimed, fool’s alternative to the traditional Christmas offer.
This year’s show is a reworking of our 2013 small-scale production, which is being redeveloped for a 336 seat mid-scale venue in the city (to an anticipated audience of 10,600)
There is already a strong design concept, centred around a large mobile 4 poster bed structure which also doubles as an internal stage and platform stage. The successful designer will work with the team to develop new potential from this concept as well as growing the whole design concept into a larger space.
We are particularly interested in working with designers who are skilled across set/props and costume design. We will also consider applications from those who tend to specialise in one or other area. We especially welcome designers who are also makers; the opportunity exists to make as well as design and manage the make, alongside the production manager.
