Hello,

I have just finished my third and final year studying BSc Rehabilitation in Sport and Exercise at Plymouth Marjon University. Where I have covered the following modules:

  • Rehabilitation in sport and exercise – clinical experience
  • Injury biomechanics
  • Anatomy and physiology for sport and exercise
  • Sport, health, and exercise psychology
  • Research methods and analysis in sport and health sciences
  • Soft tissue therapy
  • Functional anatomy
  • Musculoskeletal assessment
  • Injury treatment modalities
  • Pathology and clinical reasoning
  • Principles of exercise, coaching and rehabilitation.
  • Manual therapy of the spine
  • Strength training, conditioning, and rehabilitation
  • Diagnostic, rehabilitation, and injury management.

I have always had an interest in sport from a young age playing both football and cricket for my local clubs as well as playing for school teams. I’ve been playing football since the age of six for the same team, Enfield Town Ladies Football Club, until 2018. I also started playing cricket at the age of 13 getting into the Middlesex County Womens side in 2015. I have also captained my cricket side for six years, leading them to many victories for the league as well as winning compertitions.

At school I played netball for the netball team being the captain since year 5 through too year 11. In year 11 of my school I was voted in to be the schools Games Captain. This gave me responsibility to help the PE department in helping to run the teams and events throughout the school year.

Growing up playing sport I have had my fair share of injuries, and have always had an interest in the rehabilitation and treatment given to help heal the muscles helping them to get as close as posible to thier original strength as before. This is what lead to me choosing to study Sport Therapy at University so that I was able to get a better understanding as well as help others get back to thier chosen sport.

At University I decided to start a new sport that I have not played before, so chose to join the lacrosse team.

Lacrosse 2019

In my second year of university and playing lacrosse I was given the privilege of being voted lacrosse captain. This gave me the responsibility of being in charge of the team and their training sessions to make sure they would be ready for the BUCs season and Varsity at the end of the year that sadly got cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During this year I also started my pitch side placement both at Raiders Wheelchair Basketball Club which gave me invaluable experience with working with disabled athletes. I also worked with the Universities American Flag team helping both teams to an unbeaten season.

My third and final year was impacted by COVID-19 and the restrictions that where in place by the government and the University. Meaning that I was unable to work pitch side as teams were unable to train. And when I was meant to be in the clinic I had to adjust and complete my hours over video and audio calls. I also had to change my dissertation testing so that it required less time with participants so that everybody was safe. Though I have now officially finished and am thankful to all of my lecturers for helping me through the last three years as well as my family and friends I have gotten over my time at University.
