May 2015- September 2017

June – August 2018 and 2019

Worked for PGL as an sailing instructor working with children from the ages of 11 to 17 for up to a week.

Work Experience/ volunteering

Over the summer of 2016 I had the opportunity to do weekly work experience at Haven Banks where I helped to run kayaking and canoeing sessions for groups and schools.

As part of my Silver Duke of Edinburgh in 2015, I volunteer at my local cubs group. After this I was asked to become an Assistant Cub Leader and I have taken part in teaching many different skills such as climbing and navigation. I have very much enjoyed working with the youngsters in Cubs and hope to remain with Tipton St John Cubs for the foreseeable future.

Other experience

I have completed my Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards, learning a new skill in photography and assisting with coaching at children’s tennis sessions.

In 2013 I completed the 35 mile Ten Tors Challenge being navigator for our group. In 2014 I undertook the training for the 45 mile Ten Tors event but unfortunately I got a hairline fracture on my ankle three weeks before the event and was unable to take part in the event. In both 2015 and 2016 I completed the 55 mile ten tors events. In 2016 I had not trained to take part in the event but was asked at three weeks’ notice to be a member of the team. I undertook several self -led training walks to improve my walking fitness and was very proud to have completed such a gruelling event. From this experience I have developed a real love of walking and of Dartmoor in particular.

I enjoyed four days kayaking at Kelly College, Tavistock as part of my PE GCSE course. I have been a member of Axe Valley Canoe Club and have enjoyed day trips down the river Dart with the club.
