One of the most anticipated moments of the football calendar takes place tonight, with the FA Cup 3rd round draw live tonight, and with so much excitement in the air here’s everything you need to know about the draw and the competition so far:
When is the draw?
Coverage of the draw starts at 7:30pm tonight (Monday 3rd December) on BBC2.
What makes the third round so exciting?
All of the Premier League and Championship teams enter the competition for the first time, meaning that lower ranked EFL and non-league teams have a chance of a potential giant-killing or in most cases a nice day out.
Last season saw holders Arsenal crash out at the first hurdle in a 4-2 defeat away to Championship side Nottingham Forest while back in 2003 Everton lost 2-1 to Fourth tier Shrewsbury Town, so anything can happen!
So, what happened in the second round?
Two non-league teams are definitely in with a chance of a big-name tie, with National League South side Woking providing the biggest shock of the weekend after beating League 2 Swindon Town 1-0 away from home. Barnet are the other non-league side in the draw without requiring a replay after defeating Stockport County 1-0 at The Hive.
Elsewhere, Wrexham & Solihull Moors of the National League are in the hat after both sides took higher-ranked opponents to replays following 0-0 draws at home Newport County and Blackpool respectively.
National League North Southport also took EFL opposition to a replay following an impressive 1-1 draw away at local rivals Tranmere Rovers of League 2.
Guiseley of the National League North will at least be in the draw before their game against League 1 Fleetwood Town, which kicks off at 8pm tonight on BT Sport.
