How will the Mid Devon town of Tiverton cope with the arrival of Premier Inn this Autumn?
After planning permission was granted in 2016, Tiverton’s multi-story carpark is currently being constructed into 83 bedroom hotel where UK’s largest hotel brand, Premier Inn, is set to move in this Autumn.
Geoff Cook, Senior Project and Programme Manager for Whitbread Property who run Premier Inn, has said “On the whole, Premier Inn hotels trade very well in market town locations. We are expecting the same in Tiverton and are looking forward to playing a positive role in the town by creating new local jobs and encouraging additional overnight stays close to the town centre.”
Tiverton town centre will benefit from the development with local businesses and tourism receiving a boost from the hotel’s visitors. But how do local residents feel about the arrival of top hotel chain? And what will the consequences be for the two established hotels nearby?
