NIALL Canavan enjoyed the victory away at Forest Green Rovers last weekend in Sky Bet League Two after reaching his 50 starts as a Pilgrim.
Throughout the game, the big central defender was keen to show how passionate he was to play for the club and his performance proved that. Once the final whistle blew last Saturday afternoon, Canavan presented his emotion towards his players and the fans, after the team put in a solid defensive performance to beat FGR 1-0.
This was presented positively through videos and pictures that came from the game last weekend and it was evident that the victory meant a lot to the team and Niall.
“I just enjoyed my time, obviously they were at the top of the league, so a big result for us,” he said. “Hopefully, it sets us on what we all want, and that’s a good run of form from now.
“It just shows that you are enjoying your football and enjoying your time out there with the boys and getting the results that I think we deserve.”
The 28 year-old defender joined the club back in 2018 and last Saturday hit a half century of starts for the Pilgrims, which puts him in a small bracket of players that have made that number of appearances, or more, for the club.
Coming with this, it means that he is starting to become a more senior player at the club with his experience mounting up, which can only be vital for the progression of the team, especially with younger players coming through.
“I am probably one of the ones that has a bit more of an understanding of the club and how things go here but I’m part of a small group, so there’s not too many to pick from,” Niall joked.
The next half century for Niall, if selected, begins with the visit of Bradford City to Home Park in Sky Bet League Two tomorrow.
