As ever, it has been a busy week for sport at Marjon, but if you’ve been closer to a deadline than the side line, here’s what you need to know…
On Tuesday we saw two of our 2nds teams play. Men’s Basketball 2s went up against UTB Bucks at home and, whilst they fought hard for the duration of the game, unfortunately walked away with a 73-94 loss. It was a similar story for the Netball 2s, who finished with a nail-biting 20-22 loss to Musketeer’s too.
On Wednesday we had a whopping 11 matches scheduled, which was reduced to 8 after cancellations for the Men’s Lacrosse, Men’s Basketball 2s and Women’s Rugby. On home turf we saw a win for the Men’s basketball 1s in their face-off with Cardiff Met, walking away with a respectable 80-75. Throughout the afternoon we saw some hard-fought games, with the Men’s Football 2s losing to Exeter Uni 4s 2-3, Women’s football vs Hartpury ending 0-5 to Hartpury, Netball 1s against Exeter 6s finished with a gutting 33-56 loss for our girls, Tennis also had a no-score loss of 6-0 to University of Plymouth.
Our away games weren’t a lot more fruitful, with both Men’s Rugby (vs Exeter 6s) and Women’s Hockey (vs Bath 4s) ending in losses, 41-5 and 4-1 respectively. Women’s Lacrosse saw a turn for the better, putting their first win on the score sheet 8-14.
As the week draws to a close, we will see three more of our teams battle it out to move up the league. Tonight, Netball 3s go up against the PR Gems and the weekend will determine the fate of the Women’s waterpolo vs Aberystwyth and Men’s football vs Plympton athletic.
