The Woodside Animal Sanctuary have been hit with increased costs recently saying they have to work even harder to try and tackle the additional pressure of raising additional funds to be able to pay raising energy bills with upkeep also increasing with the animal shelters number of residents have been rising recently to pre covid rates.
The demand for their services to help pets which are no longer able to be kept has increased along with the pressure from those on low incomes who are unable to afford to get their animals neutered.
Woodside animal welfare trust provides animals with 24-hour care, all necessary checks, veterinary attention and possible outlet for adoption or permanent care for the elderly or long-term sick, this is on top of shelter, warmth, and food that the shelter provides. The animal rehoming charity was set up in 1974 by Carole Bowles who was awarded an MBE for her contributions to animal welfare in 2000.
Carole Bowles MBE said “We are being faced with another massive challenge in the charity sector as energy prices soar. We are still trying to recover from the impact of the pandemic which saw our shops close and more fundraising events postponed”
Costs are increasing for the sanctuary and for the public alike which creates has increased the pressure on the charity people struggle to support themselves they will fall back on Woodside, Carole states “The uncertainty of the financial demands on ourselves is intensified by our knowledge that we will see an ever-growing need for our services”
The trust is appealing asking people to donate to their charity as heating costs are soaring, saying “We don’t want to add pressure to supporters by pushing for donations, however, if people are struggling to think of a gift for an animal lover this Christmas, maybe a donation to our heating appeal may fit the bill? Or if you would like to make a gift to charity rather than purchasing cards or secret Santa, we would indeed be very grateful. Any donation, no matter the size, can help make up our shortfall.”
