Plymouth Argyle draw in six goal thriller against Middlesborough

Plymouth Argyle drew to Middlesborough in a six goal thriller. Managers Steven Schumacher and Michael Carrick shared their thoughts on the ‘outstanding’ performance of their players

The Greens started strong in the first 20 minutes, until an own goal from Lewis Gibson put the team down by a goal.

The visiting team capitalised on this pressing hard, but Mumba found space in a well-built attack scoring the first equaliser. Finn Azaz scored moments later with a top corner shot from outside the penalty area.

The Reds came out fighting in the second half searching for an equaliser, which was found by Josh Coburn in the form of a penalty in front of the away crowd.

What followed was an intense match up, Middlesborough once again on the front foot with a quick third goal.

Argyle’s star summer signing Morgan Whittaker found the back of the net from a free kick in the 77th minute which would be the last goal for both teams resulting in a 3-3 draw.
