Plymouth Argyle slipped to an agonising 2-1 loss at Elland Road last weekend as the Greens suffer yet another loss on the road. The Pilgrims who are yet to win away from Home Park this season conceded the opener in the 21st minute as Leeds starlet Dan James latched onto a stray pass in the 18-yard box to give Daniel Farke’s side the opener. In the 28th minute of the game Spanish defender Julio Pleguezuelo was intercepted in his own half which gave the opportunity for Joel Piroe to fire the Whites into a 2-goal advantage going into the break.
Argyle then responded after half time with a good few opportunities to get a goal back but did not until substitute Ben Waine sent the 2,000 odd travelling fans into raptures in the 84th minute as he tapped in a cross from on loan midfielder Luke Cundle, they then had a few flurries on goal before the referee eventually blew the full time whistle which was a relief for the Yorkshire based side.
The result leaves Argyle in 19th position in the championship heading into the international break. Boss Steven Schumacher said “I’m disappointed with the result, but proud of the overall effort”
The Greens next league fixture is at home to Sunderland on the 25th of November.
