Exeter Chiefs head coach Susie Appleby is “incredibly proud” that two of her players have been nominated in different categories for the World Rugby Awards 2024.
Canada’s Alex Tessier is amongst the nominees for Women’s 15’s player of the year, alongside the top try scorer of the Women’s Six Nations 2024, Ellie Kildunne.
Maddie Feaunati has been nominated for the Women’s 15’s breakthrough player of the year.
Each of the categories includes four outstanding nominees with the winners announced during the ceremony which will take place on November 24th.
Chiefs Women’s head coach Susie Appleby told the club website: “Tess had an excellent WXV tournament, really lighting up that Canada back line with a run and kick game that showed what a world-class player she is.”
Speaking about Feaunati, “She’s a really powerful athlete who has been making a real impression on world rugby at a very young age,” said Appleby. The young number eight made her debut in the league at the start of the year, scoring twice in her 13 appearances for the club.
Appleby said: “We’re incredibly proud of both girls being nominated for these awards.”
