The Moto GP 2024 championships concluded on the 17th of November as Jorge Martin wrapped up his successful campaign with a podium finish in Barcelona as he took the crown off of fellow competitor at the summit to win his first ever World Championships title, becoming the first independent rider to win it in the MotoGP era and the first since the legendary Valentino Rossi to clinch the victory with Prima Pramac Racing to cement his name in motorsport history
The Spaniard derailed successful rider Francesco Bagnaia against the odds as the Italian was looking for his third successive world championship win but fell short. His bikes constructors Ducati Lenovo Team took home the constructor’s championship with an exhilarating 722 points which was well clear of KTM who had 327 points in second place and Aprilla who finished 3rd with 302 points.
The Italian driver became only one of six drivers in history of the MotoGP to win more than ten Championship Sunday races and not come out as the World champion. According to MotoGP fan Zach Kacprowicz “the Sprint races was where he really suffered”, as the Spanish driver took full advantage of the points in the half point sprints. He also went onto say that the defining point in the season was when “Bagnaia crashed” in the penultimate race to hand the title to his rival before the finale.
Following the conclusion of the season Zach said: “It’s been a very good season, the top two have been fighting against each other every week, there’s no rider that’s been clearly dominant”, however he followed on to say “Martin deserved the championship over the spell of the season, he didn’t make any mistakes at all”
The 2025 season for the MotoGP is set to begin in the first weekend of March with a long wait ahead of an anticipating season. The title winner has already confirmed his move to Aprilla for the next season as he leaves behind Ducati Lenovo team despite his triumph with the team.
With the season In the near future Zach said: “It’s interesting to see what Aprilla do, but I do think Ducati is too strong”, this follows the news that six time world champion of MotoGP Marc Marquez is joining their team to replace Jorge Martin for the 2025 season which begins in Thailand.
