Old country vs new country

With the 2024 country music awards, we have seen a change in the country’s style. As country stars are now disposing of the stereotypical western fashion and turning on their cowboy boots for classy heels. Country stars seem to be going for an elegant prom style. However, Miranda Lambert was seen wearing a splash of classic country turquoise and silver jewelry, and another few celebs were displaying the classic fridge and denim looks.

Lainey Wilson stayed true to her country roots by incorporating a timeless cowboy hat and a bolo tie into her appearance. Luke Bryant commented on Lainey Wilson’s outfit, claiming “She’s going to have a lot of things going on.”

The iconic music has always been popular from the start of the genre in the 1920s to this generation. However, we as a generation are definitely seeing a resurgence in new western music, as it has a 67% increase in the UK. With Lainey Wilson saying “to be honest, I had more of a fanbase over there than I did here at the time. I will never forget that, and it will never go unnoticed. I kind of feel like I have my own little family over there, and we’re all just a little more alike than we even know it!”

Unlike before, mainstream stars are now making a move into the country genre, like Post Malone’s new legendary country album, which was one of the most highly-anticipated releases of the year, and most famously Beyoncé’s album Cowboy, carter which topped the all-genres Billboard 200, marking her eighth No. 1 album.

The  classic country star Alan Jackson felt that “country music has changed so much that it’s not the same as it used to be”
