Plymouth Argyle and away games are not the best of relationships at the minute, as the Greens fall to yet another away defeat, this time a 4-0 embarrassment to “fairly local” side, Bristol City. Argyle came into the game with multiple changes to the starting lineup, in hope to change their away day woes around, but to not many fans’ surprises, it didn’t change that.
Argyle started the first half fairly matched with the Home Side, and not really giving the hosts much to get excited about, but as the first half was drawing to a close, Bristol City thought they had taken the advantage, with an initial shot from City winger, Anis Memehti, forced a save from Argyle keeper Dan Grimshaw, which had fell to City Striker Nakhi Wells, but to Argyle’s saviourm the Linesman had his flag up, disallowing the goal for Wells being in an offside position. Argyle had got away with it there and the Half-Time whistle came.
Second Half and Argyle attempted to keep a clean sheet, but a deflected shot that was latched onto by City midfielder Scott Twine, which opened the scoring for the hosts and as soon as they were up and firing, the goals came against the Pilgrims to worsen their afternoon in BS3. City Winger Anis Memehti had a brace to his name within 10 minutes and Argyle were looking at yet another Away Day without taking away any points. With Bristol City well out of sight and Argyle trying to come away with some sort of pride within their performance, 4 minutes of added time was too much for Argyle to keep it at 3-0, with substitute City striker, Sinclair Armstrong making it 4-0 to the hosts and another away day to forget.
The questions from the fans regarding the team’s performance on away games and the manager himself, have not shifted from Tuesday’s embarrassing performance at Norwich. Argyle have now conceded 10 goals in the week combined from the Norwich game and Saturday’s game against Bristol City, and only scoring 1 goal.
After the latest round of Sky Bet Championship fixtures, Argyle are currently sat one position above the relegation zone in 21st, but how long will Argyle’s luck run for until their performances end them up in the relegation spots?
