As the year snowballs to a halt once again as we reach December, we receive another year’s roundup of our most played songs and top artists.
Taylor Swift achieves the title of ‘Most-Streamed Artist’ for a consecutive second year as well as topping charts with her album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’.
Sabrina Carpenter takes the title of ‘Most-Streamed Song’ with her hit ‘Espresso’.
I asked a few Marjon students who their top artists were, and whether they were happy about their 2024 Spotify Wrapped results, and the replies ranged from odd to unsurprising.
- Tate Mcrae – has increased in popularity vastly this year, with the release of songs ‘It’s ok, I’m ok’ and ‘2hands’
- Zach Bryan – a popular country artist that recently sparked controversy when it emerged that he split with influencer partner Brianna Chickenfry via an Instagram story.
- The Glee Cast – whilst this is an unusual response, I am not one to judge the ‘Gleeks’, however Matthew Morrison does scare me ever so slightly.
- One Direction – 14 years on from their initial debut, the now split boy band that caused frenzies amongst teenagers everywhere are still managing to top a lot of people’s lists, possibly due to the tragedy of October when former member Liam Payne passed away.
- Taylor Swift – the artist has topped charts and broken records once again by becoming the ‘Most-Streamed Artist’ of Spotify for the second year in a row as she nears the end of her globally renowned tour, fans are still speculating the release of her next album.
