Plymouth’s Winter Wonderland opened for the public on the 15th of November 2024. With its arrival, we saw Plymouth’s Central Park transformed into a little Christmas village. Upon entering, the first things that capture your eyes are the flash of fairground rides. However, when I arrived, I had been waiting for friends to arrive, so I bought a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows but, was shocked at the price being £5; this was a common theme I noticed when buying food later, I purchased halloumi fries, and I found the portion was smaller than I was expecting for what I paid.
Similarly, I found that the rides/carnival games were also quite expensive, for example, when I decided to play hook a duck, I was initially sceptical as there was no price advertised, only to find out upon paying that it was £5 per go. This shocked me and put me off carnival games for the rest of the night, which was upsetting because I didn’t like many of the rides that were there, for example, The Waltzers and found myself standing in the cold on my own holding bags. However, it wasn’t all bad as I went ice skating for the first time with friends. We had a great time playing games on the ice and laughing at the occasional fall, I found that it was worth the money I paid.
Overall, I found my time at Winter Wonderland fun but, I found that I was limited in my options as to what I could do. If you like rides, it is worth a visit.
