Wolves announce former player Edwards as new head coach

Wolves have announced Rob Edwards as new head coach, the former Wolves defender putting pen to paper on a contract until 2029 following the sacking of Vitor Periera.

Edwards has returned to Molineux after a £3 million compensation fee was agreed between Wolves and Middlesbrough. Although this move has drawn lots of attention on Edwards who has left high-flying Middlesbrough, who he only joined in June and instead has joined a winless team who are stumped rock-bottom of the Premier League.

The 42-year-old looked to gain promotion with Boro, but clearly the pull of his former team proved to strong as he looks to attempt the impossible in keeping Wolves up.

It is understood that the former Wolves man who played 114 times for the club between 2004 and 2008 has landed his dream job and also grew up in the Wolverhampton area. Edwards took to Instagram to deliver a parting message to the Boro fans and said “I wouldn’t have considered leaving Middlesbrough for any other club.”

Wolves have stated that Edwards will be heavily backed in the January transfer window, but after 5 managers in 4 years this seems far too familiar for the Midland-based club.
