It’s been eight months since the long-awaited prequel was published, and the first official teaser for “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping” has been released.
Fans were welcomed back to the annual reaping last week with a two-minute trailer released by Lionsgate on all platforms. First looks were included of all the recently announced castings, including first look at Joseph Zada as young Haymitch Abernathy, the main protagonist for this edition.
Lionsgate were clearly determined to recruit all the best villains with this adaptation. Included was a glimpse of Ralph Fiennes as 58-year-old President Snow. Fiennes is most widely known as Lord Voldemort in the film adaptations of ‘Harry Potter’ but is under pressure regarding his highly anticipated portrayal of President Snow. The last depiction of the character was mastered by Tom Blyth in “A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” who had big shoes to fill after Donald Sutherlands chilling role in the original four films.
Previously Cruella De Vil, Glenn Close was almost unrecognisable as brand-new character ‘Drusilla Sickle’, as she announced the return of the highly anticipated ‘Quarter Quell’. Within the film, Haymitch Abernathy is reaped for the 50th Quarter Quell, in which double the amount of tributes are reaped.
The teaser ended with a reference to the second original film, Catching Fire, sparking further conspiracy that the original three (Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Woody Harrelson), will reunite to end the new film with a recreation of the books epilogue.
The prequel will be released 20th November of next year.
