Two week ago, it was confirmed that Rob Edwards will return to Molineux as their new head coach. Edwards has penned a 3-year deal at the club replacing Vitor Pereira who was sacked after wolves very disappointing start to the season.
Wolves currently sit bottom of the premier league table on 2 point and are yet to pick up a win this season.
But despite this Wolves fan remain positive, and speaking to Kian a writer for Talking Wolves there is a new optimism around Molineux
“I think it’s a brilliant appointment, Rob a club legend who knows Wolves inside out” adding that his experience and connections at the club could be exactly what Wolves need to progress and have some success this season.
Rob Edwards held several key roles at Wolves that shaped his coaching career. He started as Under-18 coach, focusing on youth development and the club’s academy structure, before being promoted to first-team coach in 2015. In 2016, he served briefly as interim head coach, guiding the team through a transitional period. His most notable spell came in 2018 as Under-23 head coach, leading the team to promotion into Premier League 2 Division 1.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have already had a tough start under Rob Edwards, losing both of his opening games since returning to the club. His first match back ended in defeat at home against Crystal Palace, before another setback followed against local rivals Aston Villa.
Despite the back-to-back losses, there are still signs of belief around Molineux. Performances have shown small improvements, and fans remain hopeful that Edwards’ deep connection with the club and knowledge of the dressing room can help steady the ship. Results now need to follow quickly, though, as Wolves look to climb off the bottom of the table and kick-start their season before the gap grows too big.
