Argyle midweek win brings belief for League One safety

Plymouth Argyle have had a rough season so far in League One, nowhere near the top of the table, 23rd in the league on 19 points with Tom Cleverley having joined the club as manager in June, fans are in unrest over the ownership of the club and are tired of how the club is operated.

A win on Tuesday night away at Wycombe has brought some optimism among fans, as Owen Oseni scored the only goal of the game, pulling Argyle to within a point from safety of local rivals Exeter City in 20th.

Argyle fan Mark Parsons age 19 had this to say about their sixth win of the season: “I think it was a positive that we won, however, overall watching the game it wasn’t very good football. It was boring, not much happened. To be fair, Wycombe were probably the better team for most of the game, however we got a lucky chance with the mistake by the keeper to win us the game.

Hopefully we can win a few more games because it has been pretty poor this season, especially as there is a lot of games coming up, hopefully it can change, to turn things around and climb up the table.”

Fellow fan Ethan Hookway believes this win could help The Pilgrims stay up, but believes that form needs to pick up: “From a hopeful standpoint, I think we can stay up, I think we’re capable of staying up, but obviously we need to improve and pick up some form sooner rather than later, before it is too late. It was a good win on Tuesday night and hopefully we can pick up a couple more points before the end of the year and build on it.”

Plymouth Argyle have another four games before the end of 2025, all four teams are within 5 points of the relegation zone, these games for Plymouth could be a huge factor to whether the team has what it takes to stay in League One, or whether a daunting relegation to League Two is near.
