A fresh wave of highly anticipated films is set to hit the cinemas over the coming weeks, with students looking forward to catching them on the big screen.
From blockbuster action adventures to crime and mystery dramas, there’s plenty for movie fans to look forward to. One of the most talked-about releases is Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey,’ which follows Odysseus of Ithaca as he embarks on a dangerous journey after the Trojan War.
Odysseus is a legendary Greek King and hero from Homers epic poem The Odyssey, he is known for his cunning intelligence and bravery. The original story is focused on his extensive ten year journey after the war.
The film features notable actors such as Tom Holland and Zendaya, and is set for release on January 17th. One Marjon student described their excitement for the film’s release as having “a great cast, including Matt Damon, who I am a big fan of, and I’m really excited to see the story take place on the big screen”.
Another Film set to grace the pictures is Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, written by the creator of the franchise, Stephen Knight, and directed by Tom Harper,
The story continues to follow the notorious Tommy Shelby, played by Cillian Murphy, but now shifts to a new era, World War II.
The movie is set around Shelby’s involvement in secret wartime missions in bomb-ridden Birmingham, as he continues to battle with his past.
A Marjon student described their anticipation for the new film: “I cannot wait for the release. I have been a massive fan of the series and am looking forward to seeing Tommy Shelby back on my screen but even bigger this time!.”
Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is set to be released on March 20th, 2026.
