In League One news, Reading start the new year strong with a dramatic 1-0 win in the 89th minute over Stockport County yesterday afternoon.
After a slow and uneventful first half with Stockport missing poor chances, both sides upped their intent in the second half. Daniel Kyerewaa got close for the Royals and the Hatters reciprocated forcing the hosts Goalkeeper Joel Pereira into some dangerous territory.
Reading got into gear towards the end leading to the Stockport keeper making good saves from close range. However, Ben Hinchliffe could do nothing when Lewis Wing got his ninth goal of the season as his strike sailed into the back of the net under the Madejski lights.
Charlie savage, Reading Midfielder, told Royals TV “It might be the best run I have been on in the two-and-a-half years I have been here,”.
The Royals are hopeful after their unbeaten festive period, and we’ll wish them luck as they play their next game against Leyton Orient on the 17th of January.
